Rogo Technologies, the AI startup that automates much of the grunt work traditionally done by junior investment bankers, has made Singapore the hub of its Asia-Pacific expansion. The New York-based firm, valued at US$2 billion in an April funding round led by Kleiner Perkins, is opening an office in the city-state and plans to grow its regional headcount to 150-200 by end of 2027.

The platform has become popular for taking on spreadsheet automation, slide preparation, and other repetitive tasks that consume junior bankers' hours. It now serves over 350 clients globally — including Nomura, Daiwa, GIC, and Barclays — with more than 50,000 bankers and investors using the platform across 100+ countries. The Singapore office will anchor the firm's growth across Asia, with additional recruiting in Tokyo and Sydney.

COO John Willett, 28, cited Singapore's talent pool as "really compelling" and pointed to the city's connectivity across the region and its track record as a landing pad for Western firms expanding into Asia. The numbers back up the bet: Singapore tops the IMF's AI Preparedness Index among 174 countries, while 64% of its financial institutions are actively deploying AI across key business functions, according to a 2026 Finastra survey.

Why it matters for Singapore: Rogo's decision to anchor its APAC operations in Singapore is a concrete signal that the city-state's financial sector AI adoption is attracting not just deployment but product development and regional headquarters. For Singapore's ambitions to be Asia's AI-in-finance hub, having a US$2 billion AI fintech build its regional nerve centre here — rather than Hong Kong or Tokyo — reinforces the competitive position that MAS and EDB have been cultivating.
