Singapore and Indonesia are deploying an AI-powered advisory tool called the Trade AI Advisor (Taia) to help small and medium enterprises identify new export opportunities across ASEAN. The platform analyses trade data to recommend which products could be exported, suggest potential destination markets, and connect businesses with existing exporters. Initial milestones are expected in January 2027, ahead of a broader launch later that year.
The initiative is a joint effort between the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). Both organisations have set up three working groups focused on localisation, and SBF is targeting a Q4 2026 launch for early access. The platform represents one of the most concrete AI-for-trade applications to emerge from ASEAN economic cooperation in recent years.
What makes Taia notable is its focus on SMEs rather than multinational corporations. Most AI trade tools are built for large enterprises with dedicated analytics teams. By targeting smaller firms that lack market intelligence resources, the platform could unlock trade flows that traditional advisory services have historically missed. The timing also matters — with global supply chains shifting and tariff uncertainties rising, SMEs need data-driven guidance more than ever.
