Singapore is standing up a task force on AI-driven cyber threats while IMDA ships an early starter kit for checking agentic AI safety and reliability.

Singapore is putting together a dedicated task force to shore up its defences against cyber attacks that lean on artificial intelligence. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has also released an initial version of a starter kit designed to let organisations check whether agentic AI systems behave safely and reliably.

The two announcements land together, and they point the same way: the technology sharpening modern attacks is also being handed guardrails before it spreads through companies. IMDA carries the kit, while the task force pulls the wider response into national cyber defence. One builds awareness inside companies, the other coordinates the answer at national level.

The kit is pitched as a first pass, and it is narrow by design: it targets agentic AI specifically, the class of software that acts on its own instead of only replying to prompts. Organisations get a way to probe those systems for safety and reliability gaps that surface once they are running in production. Testing, in other words, moves ahead of deployment rather than trailing behind it.

For industry, that means a testing tool arriving before an incident rather than after it. Teams building or buying agentic products get a reference point for grilling vendors about reliability. The task force, meanwhile, tells the market that AI-driven attacks are being handled as a live problem, not a hypothetical one.

Why it matters for Singapore: A dense, digitally wired economy is an attractive target, and weak spots in AI systems turn into weak spots in national infrastructure. Screening agentic tools early keeps small flaws from scaling quietly, and a coordinated effort beats each firm improvising its own defence.
